Gertrude is a producer with a mission and a fighting spirit. She defends specialty coffee and the specific characteristics of her Boa Vista coffees with passion. She and her husband, Celso, are aware of the importance and impact of processes in the cup. Since 2006, they have paid particular attention to how cherries are sorted (using state-of-the-art electro-optics) and de-pulp them immediately after harvesting to preserve their freshness. They have discovered that their coffee offers a unique profile and have fought for it in many a competition. They won the Sao Paulo contest two years running. In the third year, their coffee entered the Brazilian top 50 in the Cup of Excellence.
At a time when only a few believed in Brazilian specialty coffee, Gertrude and Celso defended with passion the very unique profile of their Boa Vista coffee.
The farm surrounded by forests and protected natural springs, a paradise for animals because it is an area where hunting and use of pesticides are prohibited. Gertrude and Celso’s coffees have won numerous awards in the state of Sao Paulo and rank among the top 50 Brazilian specialty coffees
The Boa Vista drying mill is equipped with state-of-the-art electro-optics, allowing cherries to be sorted on the day they are harvested. They are all picked manually and have been de-pulped immediately afterwards since 2006. They are dried on traditional patios.
